PLASTIC PIPE TESTING

Ubbelohde Viscometers

Ubbelohde viscometry compares capillary flow times at a controlled temperature. For polymer solutions, select the solvent, concentration, capillary geometry, temperature, timing procedure, and calculation together. Solution viscosity, melt flow, and HDT/Vicat measure different material properties; choose the tests required by the resin or product specification.

Select a solution viscosity system

Define the polymer and solvent

Provide the resin grade, solvent, concentration, dissolution procedure, measurement temperature, and required method edition.

Specify the capillary and timing workflow

Confirm the capillary size, certificate, filling volume, expected flow time, liquid-level detection, and timing operation for the selected configuration.

Choose the result and report

State whether you need flow time, viscosity number, relative viscosity, or intrinsic viscosity. Calculation and report functions are confirmed against your method.

Need temperature control for an existing viscometer?

Compare the LS-CVB bath when you already have the capillary and measurement equipment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Solution viscometry measures flow through a capillary after sample preparation with a suitable solvent. A melt flow indexer measures molten polymer under a specified temperature and load. The results describe different properties and are not interchangeable.

No. The resin or product specification determines the required tests. Submit your material and method so the capillary, solvent, temperature, calculation, and documentation can be checked before quotation.
